My father, I.C. Shah, came from India to attend Michigan State University. After graduation, he went to work for Xerox because of his love for technology. His data-oriented mind and passion for technology were incredible in all facets; he was way ahead of his time.

I.C.’s entrepreneurial spirit and desire to create a game-changing company that would do its work at a level others had not thought of was a driving force for him at an early age. He founded what became ICS Telecom during a time when businesses could acquire their own telephone systems, which saved them thousands of dollars in the long run.

I.C. believed, “Take care of your customers, and they will take care of you.” This would also become the mantra of Convergent Telecom, our present company.

As his oldest son, I came to work with my father in his business; I learned every aspect of the trade, from installations to analyzing new technology. He viewed the communications industry as a series of building blocks that progressed over time. Early on, before most people had internet access or smartphones, he envisioned what this could lead to cloud technology and the constant change of the future. I was blessed to learn at the foot of the master and embrace his gift for reviewing technology and its applications and predicting the logical progression we see today.
